The 2026 Jordan Baja, held from 12 to 14 February in Aqaba, delivered three days of intense desert action as part of the FIA and FIM international Baja calendar. The event attracted 33 FIA crews, 25 FIM riders and a dozen Jordan National Baja competitors, underlining the growing stature of the rally on the regional and global motorsport scene.
Qatar once again confirmed its dominance in cross-country rallying with outstanding performances across multiple categories.
Al Attiyah Claims Overall Middle East Baja Championship Victory
Leading the charge was multiple Dakar winner Nasser Al Attiyah, who secured 1st Overall in the Middle East Baja Championship, adding another prestigious victory to his remarkable record. His performance in the challenging Jordanian terrain reaffirmed his status as one of the world’s leading cross-country rally drivers and a benchmark for consistency and speed in the region.
Strong Results for Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation Team
The QMMF Team delivered an impressive collective performance in the highly competitive SSV and Challenger category:
• Mohammed Al Marri clinched 1st place in the SSV Middle East Baja Championship, demonstrating strong pace and control throughout the event.
• Abdulaziz Al Kuwari achieved 2nd place in the Challenger World Baja Championship, overcoming mechanical issues during Stage 2 to fight back and secure a valuable podium finish — a testament to resilience and determination under pressure.
Solid Performances from Qatari Drivers and Rider
Qatari competitors continued to showcase depth and talent across categories:
• Ahmed Al Kuwarifinished 4th in the SSV Middle East Baja Championship.
• Mohamad Al Attiya concluded the event in 5th place in the SSV Middle East Baja Championship, maintaining consistency across the demanding stages.
•Abdullah Al Rabban finished also in a strong 4th place ,and Ahmed Al Mohannadi 5th in the STK category.
• In the bikes category, rider Mohammed Al Kubaisi placed 7th in the Asia Baja Cup Championship (Asia BCC), gaining valuable championship points against a competitive international field.
A Challenging Desert Test
Set against the dramatic landscapes surrounding Al Aqaba, the rally featured fast desert tracks, technical navigation sections and demanding terrain that tested both performance and endurance. The high-level international participation further elevated the competitiveness of the event.
With these results, Qatar strengthens its position in the regional and international Baja championships, reflecting the continued growth of cross-country rallying within the country and the sustained support for its drivers and riders on the global stage.
