Saqqara Archaeological Area, south of Pyramids of Giza, Egypt, decided to stops Horse Racing inside the area
Samir Abdel Raouf, Director of Saqqara Archaeological Area, stated that the race was stopped due to the death of two horses participating in the race and that the role of the archaeological area is limited to issuing approvals only
The death of the horses was due to Mr. Abdullah Al-Naqrashi, Head of the Endurance Committee at the Egyptian Equestrian Federation, being participating as a competitor in the race, which is a legal violation of the regulations of Sports Law that prohibit and ban the participation of members of Board of Directors of sports federations, as well as members of committees and branches, in participating in sports federation championships
Participants stated that death of horses is not the first one since Al-Naqrashi took over Endurance Committee
Endurance and endurance sport is one of the most important branches of equestrian sport
which has not enjoyed the attention of officials in Egyptian Equestrian Federation for a long time
Egyptian Equestrian Federation has not sought assistance of those with experience in this field
