Not giving up without a fight, Angel Piqueras (FRINSA – MT Helmets – MSI) may have his back against the wall in the title scrap but he came out meaning business on Friday in Indonesia. The 36 heads the field into Saturday’s all-important qualifying day, giving him a solid platform to build on in a vital weekend.
Piqueras’ 1’37.503 puts him 0.098s ahead of Maximo Quiles (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) who suffered a big highside in the last three minutes of the session at Turn 7 and will need to be reviewed before FP2
Jose Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) takes P3 as he looks to wrap up the World Championship on Sunday, 93 points ahead and needing to be 100+ clear
Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing) was the top Honda in fourth ahead of David Munoz (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP), fastest in FP1. He headed LEVELUP-MTA duo of Joel Kelso and Matteo Bertelle
David Almansa (Leopard Racing) is P8 and had a penultimate corner save which took down Alvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo), who remains P9 despite that bad luck. Taiyo Furusato (Honda Team Asia) completes the top ten.
